Antalya is the most beautiful city in Turkey. With aprox. one million inhabitants, Antalya is one of the fifth biggest cities in Turkey. But still the best one for make holiday. The most brand new and luxery hotels of Europe are located here. Antalya is a ideal region for vacation for everyone. About 20 years ago Antalya was a small, dreamy fishertown with agricultural villages nearby. Typical for Antalya and environment are citrus fruits and all kind of vegetables that can be harvested two times a year. The old port with the old town “Kaleici” is very worth for sightseeing. A walk through the small lanes is very much impressing and fascinating, especially in the evening. Antalya is built on 35 mtr. high rocks, named Falez. 


Hadrians gate in Antalya

Also to the Hadrians gate which spanned the main road once leading to Perge. The gate has three transitions-gates and was built in the year 130 A.D. in honor of the roman emperor Hadrian, who was stayed for a visit in „Attaleia". Nearby the Falez hotel offers a freelight museum a walk through the history of more then 3.000 years. This museum has the most important collection of classical archaeology. Antalyas beaches are located at the west, the Konyaalti beach and the Lara beach at the east. Antalyas geography can be divided into two areas. In the west, the large Taurus- mountains goes directly down to the sea. This part of the coast was called in the ancient time ”Lycia” in while the ancient „Pamphylia” was being the region east of Antalya up to Manavgat" in which the mountains are wider back.

Between the south side of the high Taurus mountains and Mediterranean Sea fine sandy beaches and mysterious bays, ancient places and attractive holiday villages extend in rarely beautiful landscape. Sun lovers, sailors, windsurfers, water ski runners, sailors, canoeists, mountain climbers, mountainbikers, golfers, horse-riders, swimmers, tennis-players, hunters, hikers and culture interested people find their tourist heaven on earth here.

History and mythology are very closed together in the Mediterranean area.

Old legends and sagas are also today still in all mouth, so for example that of the fire-breathing Chimera. At the south of the mountain Olympos, the Lydic legend hero Bellerophon had Chimaere wanted to knock down her head. As he was not succesfull doing that, she still spits today as usual here fire. The holy Paulus is born, as the Bible tells, in Tarsus. The holy Santa Claus was born in Patara and lived in the contemporary Demre.


Düden waterfall

One of the most important cities and the biggest tourism region of Turkey is Antalya. Palm lined streets, well-kept parks, rich and luxery accomations, numerous restaurants and nightlife districts of all kind, as well as an extraordinarily beautiful yacht port emboss the picture of the city. At east of Antalya the “Düden” waterfall  falls over 30 mtrs deep into the sea. And in the west lies, surround from pine wood forests and mountains, the famous holiday region Kemer with its wonderful sandy beaches, with crystal clear water.

The worth seeing port-city Alanya lies in between of orange-, lemons- and banana plantations at the south slope of the Taurus mountains. At the 13th cty Alanya was the winter-place of the Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat. Also the most modern shipyard in the ancient time as well as the good preserved castle.
